Per G. Jensen Virginia

Bright and Red Virginia is pressed into a block and stored for at least one month. Then, it is cut and loosened into a Ready-Rubbed cut. Virginia serves as a solid foundation for various tobacco blends, reducing dryness and toning down strength when needed. Also, add some Virginia if you want to make tobacco less aromatic.

I had my first bowl of the PGJ Blender’s Virginia in a clay with an American lager beer to accompany (Coors Banquet). It is a ready rubbed cut, kinda chunky, arrived a little on the dry side (as befits a bulk blend that is only lightly cased and untopped).

The tin note was all grass and hay; my wife pinned it as alfalfa. That came through on the char light, giving a tongue note of light hay. That flavor dominated for the first half of the bowl, then I started to get cocoa/mocha, plus some light pepper (which had me wondering if there is some burley in the blend).

The smoke never got wet or gurgly, or even really hot, though I began to wonder toward the end of the bowl whether I would get the touch of tar that I often find accompanying the pepper that I was tasting, but thankfully the tar never came. Burned to a super fine white ash, with only the barest hint of dottle in the bowl.

Nicotine is mild, room note is pleasant. This is a nice straight VA that I expect will indeed blend well.
