Garryowen is the first plug I smoked that wasn't made by one of the Gawiths; and proved somewhat of a revelation. A plug tobacco doesn't neccesarily have to become the Incredible Hulk upon the first light.

Rather, Garryowen is a pleasantly sweet-tasting Virginia leaf smoke. The sweetness has certainly been enhanced, but not by much, and not in a gross way. I would rank the smoking experience as being about on par with S.Gawith's Full Virginia Flake, or Rattray's Hal o' the Wind. The bother of preparing the plug, if it may be considered that, is counter-balanced by the extra coolness and the extra time in the smoking.

Good stuff.

After Mick MCquaid plug this is about the best of Murrey and sons plugs. It contains none of the powerful perfumes and artical flavours that many of the others do. It's full flavour tabacco that requires a far amount of faffing with, but is worth a try if you fancy something different. Not as strong as those voodoo ropes from the lakedistrict. Plugs often have a sweetness because of the binding agents used in their making and this will never make them a sophisticated smoke. Worth a try .
